Preparing for emergencies while living in an apartment

Follow this link to read an msn article about getting ready for a disaster as an apartment dweller.

Being prepared for a 3 day survival is a great start.

But being prepared isn't just smart in case of a disaster but also a job loss, the article tells us.

And preparing doesn't have to be expensive. Don't overlook your dollar store for flashlights, batteries and sanitation items.

Need a great suggestion for storing water in small space?  Use your left over 2 liter bottles. But be sure they a non-color bottles and are pretty sturdy. Heavy duty juice containers are also a great start to water storage.

Store enough to drink, cook with, and to do some cleaning like dishes and flushing toilets. Minimum is 1 gallon a day but shoot for somewhere around 5-6 gallons a day stored for a 3 day period.

How about space? Well check out frugalsquirrels.com to see some neat ideas on how to make your space work for you.
